Leadership Spotlight: Connie Geier

Author:

Teamwork, Communication & Success

Connie Geier, 24/7 Dispatch Manager, has pursued a career in multiple roles all with one commonality: helping others. Connie began her career in retail, then management and then eventually moved to a job in billing at Roadrunner Freight before joining the 24/7 team. Once her kids were in school, she worked her way into a customer service and a city dispatching position. The customer service toolbox and incredible work ethic Connie developed throughout the early years of her career got her in the door with Roadrunner Freight, the company she would call home for the next 20+ years.

With communication and dependability being Connie’s most prized values, she leads her team with these values guiding her. She believes that without communication, you can’t have a team or a business and that being in constant communication with members of your team and company is a true key to success.

Holding monthly meetings, maintaining constant communication and giving team members a simple “thank you” are just a few of the ways Connie keeps her team engaged. She puts the needs of her team ahead of her own and leads by example, working alongside them and never asking them to do something she wouldn’t do herself. Connie’s team knows that she has their backs and will jump right in with them if need be.

Advice for Aspiring Professionals

Connie is a prime example of someone who built an amazing career for themselves through hard work and dedication. When asked what advice Connie would give to those at the beginning of their careers, she said, “Ask questions and communicate. If you don’t ask, you don’t know, and you won’t grow. Asking the right questions will get you ahead and you will grow with knowledge.”

Roadrunner Freight has been home to Connie for over 20 years. She has stuck with the company through all the highs and lows that have come throughout the years and is proud of Roadrunner Freight for giving everyone a chance. Roadrunner Freight hired Connie, who had no industry experience, 20 years ago and this shaped her outlook on leadership. She believes, “Everyone is trainable and I think Roadrunner Freight feels the same way, That’s why they gave me a chance 20 years ago.”

Roadrunner Freight is lucky and proud to have Connie as a leader on our team. Thank you for making Roadrunner Freight your home.
